General
Description:
SLOC will contact you with general volunteer opportunities as they arise.
Usher
Description:
Ushers are responsible for warmly greeting and helping patrons find their seats. Arrive no later than 1 hour prior to the scheduled performance. Refer to Usher instructions for full details.
Requirements:
Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time. Must be 16 or older.
Head Usher
Description:
Head Usher is responsible for leading and directing the volunteer usher staff during a performance. Arrive no later than 1 hour and 15 min before the scheduled performance. Refer to Head Usher Instructions for full details.
Requirements:
Must have previously ushered at SLOC and be comfortable leading the team of ushers at a performance. Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time.
House Manager
Description:
House Manager is responsible for unlocking the building, making sure the theater, lobby, and restrooms are ready for patrons, opening the house when instructed by the SM, and turning house over to SM at top of show. HM works directly with the Box Office Manager and the volunteer usher staff during a performance. Arrive no later than 1 hr and 15 min before the scheduled performance. Refer to House Manager Instructions for full details.
Requirements:
Must complete House Manager training prior to signing up. Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time.
Audition Greeter
Description:
Work with the Audition Coordinator to greet and assist people coming to audition for a production. You may be assigned to a variety of roles depending on the needs of the production.
Requirements:
No previous experience is required. All that's needed is a welcoming attitude, willingness to help, and the ability to follow directions.
Set Construction
Description:
Assist the Master Carpenter or Set Designer with building set pieces for a production.
Requirements:
All levels of skill are greatly appreciated. Must be over 18 to use tools.
Set Painting
Description:
Assist the scenic artists with painting set pieces for a production.
Requirements:
Varying levels of skill are needed.
Sound
Description:
Assist the Sound Designer with the set up, operation, and/or strike of our sound equipment for a production or event.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
Lights
Description:
Assist the Lighting Designer with the set up, operation, and/or strike of our lighting equipment for a production or event.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
Hair/Make-Up
Description:
Assist the Hair and/or Make-up Designer as they execute their design for a production. This may include time at rehearsals and performances.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
Costumes
Description:
Assist the Costume Designer with finding, modifying, sewing, pressing, and preparing costumes to execute their vision for a production.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
Props
Description:
Assist the Property Designer to find, create, build or finagle props for a production.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
Stage Crew
Description:
Assist the stage management team backstage with a variety of tasks during rehearsals and performances. This may include (but is not limited to) moving set pieces, assisting with costume changes, preparing or organizing props, preparing the stage for performance, or other tasks that may be needed.
Requirements:
Previous experience and technical ability are appreciated but not necessarily required, as long as you have a desire to learn.
